Walks and Tours

Umbria and Tuscany are so rich in sensory experiences it seems impossible to capture them all in a lifetime. Get off the pavement and onto the threading trails that connect this world of vineyards, groves, gardens, villages and ancient cobblestone back streets.

From the tastes and aromas of the best wines and culinary specialties of  Italy, experience this incredible region on your own two meandering feet. You will experience the 'road less traveled.’ Leave the touristy busy towns to explore the richness of small villages and the countryside!

We will also visit Assisi, the picturesque town known for its religious and cultural treasures. It is the birthplace of St. Francis, founder of the Franciscan Order and patron saint of animals and the environment. The Basilica of San Francesco is one of the most important monuments, housing frescoes by Giotto, Cimabue and other masters. Assisi also has a rich Roman past, expressed, for example, in the city walls, a World Heritage Site. We are going to follow the roots of St. Francis and discover Assisi´s history.

About Maria Bünk

We are fortunate to have Maria join us as our hiking and culture guide! Since she was a small child, she has loved hiking. Walking is her passion, relaxation and joy.  Maria is well experienced in day hikes and long- distance hiking. She has walked and hiked hundreds of trails throughout Europe.

She transversed Spain and Portugal, walking the famous Camino de Santiago 5 times! In 2018 she did  the Camino, walking 900 km in 35 days,  from St. Jean Pied de Port in south France,  to Finistere,  the western coast in north Spain.  Most recently, Maria has been hiking the trails of Tuscany to prepare for our retreats.

Maria lives in Germany and has spent numerous summers hiking in the Bavarian alps. She is a social worker and family therapist and leads a multi-professional team in the outpatient palliative care for families with terminally ill children.

Enjoy exploring villages, winerys, cultural sites and the beautiful countryside.
